I heard this bird today that I didn’t recognise. There’s probably a birding lemmy but I thought I’d try here first. The audio quality sucks but its a continuous warble that decreases in pitch over about 2 seconds.
Eurasian blue tit?
A swallow straining under the weight of a coconut.
Perhaps if he grips it by the husk?
It’s not a question of where he grips it! It’s a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.
Check out the Merlin bird ID app.
I love Merlin! I do go back and delete my old recordings though, they took a lot of space on my phone. Especially because I’m sitting there waiting for the bird to do it again… It’s pretty good at ignoring other noises like traffic and dogs.
Great, thanks for the app suggestion and the effort!
I think it’s a Blue Tit as well. Here’s some samples from xeno-canto which sound similar to your clip:
Thanks! It’s strange, we have loads of blue tits in our garden and I swear I’ve not heard it before.
