    This is part of why I got into writing.

    “Whatcha thinkin’ about?”

    “Oh, my book! Let me tell you all about it! Or, better, do you want to read it? Here, I’ll send it to you!”

    I either get a beta reader for my latest project, or they never ask me stupid questions like that again. It’s win/win.

    STRANGER: A penny for your thoughts?

    ME: I hope you have the time and energy for a three hour lecture of the history and engineering (maybe) of this obscure component of a fictional universe I’ve created. Do you prefer law or railways?

      “what are you thinking about?”
      “stuff”
      “what stuff?”
      “stuff that I can’t easily put into words”
