I’m still waiting for the cat girls…

Edit: For whoever is downvoting me, this is literally the same group that hacked a nuclear research lab last year. Their demand was that they begin serious research into the creation of real life catgirls.

That sounds like an interesting line of study, do you have and further insight on progress?

Lemmy has gotten a lot less civil recently, people just downvoting for no reason and calling each other shit they wouldn’t dare say to a living person in front of them

I wouldnt call a few downvotes ‘less civil’. Without the edit, the parent comment looked like a weird non sequitur. With the comment there was more context and now it has a lot of upvotes.

Totally why I clarified. I realized people probably had no idea what I was talking about. I figured more people would get the reference, but was obviously wrong. Not anyone’s fault there but mine!

Couldn’t not share it with people though. Such a crazy piece of news…

I mean, downvotes are supposed to be for irrelevant comments. Anyone who missed the reference would easily assume it to be irrelevant.

I think it’s amusing how there are several people ITT that think the way people use upvotes and downvotes changed all because some amorphous entity tied to Lemmy said so.

They are absolutely “I agree with this” and “I disagree with this” buttons, Hexbear should have definitively proven that to all of you.

Just because people stick cotton swabs in their ears doesn’t mean that they’re supposed to be used for that.

people just downvoting for no reason

Not what they’re for. The downvote is not a “I disagree with this comment” button, It is a measure of how relevant to the discussion a comment is.

In this case your comment about how everyone is bad and evil and everything is actually not at all relevant to anything in this discussion

Among highly skilled hackers, I wonder what percentage are either on the spectrum, furry, or LGBTQ (or some combination thereof). It’s got to be at least 50%. Anyway, great work here!

Earlier this year, SiegedSec claimed to have hacked the River Valley Church of Burnsville, Minnesota — and to have spent $6,200 in church funds to purchase 100 inflatable sea lions

I would have forced them to spend $100 on as many shelters and food kitchens that they could find, and then see if River Valley would try to do a charge back on each one.

[last lines] TV Anchorman: In a surprise announcement, the Republican National Committee has revealed it is bankrupt. A spokesman for the party said they had plenty of money in their accounts last week, but today they just don’t know where the money has gone. But not everybody is going begging. Amnesty International, Greenpeace and the United Negro College Fund announced record earnings this week, due mostly to large, anonymous donations.

I will never get tired of seeing headlines that start with “Gay furry hackers” because if the Venn diagram is that intersectional, it’s schaudenfreude story time with spicy drops! 🍿

Earlier this year, SiegedSec claimed to have hacked the River Valley Church of Burnsville, Minnesota — and to have spent $6,200 in church funds to purchase 100 inflatable sea lions — after its lead pastor, Rob Ketterling, allegedly made transphobic remarks. In the past, Ketterling said the legalization of gay marriage would lead to the legalization of pedophilia, polygamy, and bestiality.

    That’s pretty awesome.

I can’t help it but regardless of the context the phrase “Gay Furry Hackers” will always seem a little funny to me… Not sure why bain is a weird place.

Let’s hope we hear about a lot more action from them.

okay so sometimes living in a half passed shadow run 6e campaign run by severely concussed Kurt Vonnegut as he dies of dysentery is pretty fun.

even in that condition; man can still write. apparently.

They deleted all the files in Real America’s Voice’s S3 bucket, but it seems like it’d be more mischievous to upload larger and larger files to it over time to make them wonder why their bills are skyrocketing. That and randomly change the permissions of a few files per day, delete data from the middle of files, etc.

Of course, I would never do such a thing.

There would probably be more illegal actions taken into account if caught if they cost the person/church/organization/company more money by doing so.

While fun I am sure there are better ways to do something without costing people/organizations money. I think this is important to consider when we compare deeds and acts we deem as better for everyone and compare it to things we deem as not okay for everyone because we tend to get wrapped up in the idea that our opinions justify what is right when what it boils or would boil down to is this.

Ousting a right wing ass hole and costing him and the church more money = illegal

Ousting someone through extortion or costing them more money through scams = illegal

While we could morally argue one is far better than the other the way this could be portrayed especially by someone in Florida a specific politician called DeSantis: “Those gay rights activists are basically scammers and extortionists.”

While on the surface their moral obligations are clearly different and I applaud them. Hacking without consent or authorization is technically illegal regardless and can be charged but they are less likely to look like the bad guys by not costing, someone or some thing, absurd amounts of money that they would end up paying back like wise there is less fire power against them.

      Either way good on them.
