A peregrine has been euthanised after being found injured in the Peak District.

Derbyshire Police said the bird was found at Hey Clough, off the A628 Woodhead Pass, near Crowden.

The adult female peregrine was taken to a veterinary practice, where it was confirmed it had been shot.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and the Peak District National Park Authority have offered a £10,000 reward.

They have cute faces and are pretty birds. I don’t know why someone would shoot something so gorgeous, particularly when it takes care of nuisance species.

Possibly ignorant people who think the peregrine will eat their pheasants. Which would mean they couldn’t shoot them for pleasure.
