I have no idea why Democrats thought a moderate Republican like Garland would be less loyal to Republican leadership than other Republicans.

    Obama was trying to put republicans in a difficult position by nominating Garland to scotus since they had recommended him previously. Obviously, that didn’t work because republicans have no shame and will do anything for power and money. Biden then gave Garland the DOJ spot as a sort of concession prize, albeit a very good one. As it turns out, garland is less than ideal and trying to appear apolitical is actually making things political. It’s a mess.

      Garland probably would have been OK as a SC Justice, but what a failure of an Attorney General. He really needs to be replaced. Based on that reporting, he seems way, way more concerned with the image of the DOJ rather than doing the fucking job of the DOJ. I know that our systems have been fucked up for decades, but holy shit has the past 6 years done a hell of a job of putting those failures, and our seemingly inability to fix them, in the wide open for everyone to see.
