With reddit shooting itself in the foot regarding the API, its probably just a matter of time before they come for the piracy subs. Great excuse to try out the Fediverse :)
Is NSFW content like c/UpvoteBecauseOfBoobs and c/HornyJail allowed on this instance?
NSFW only instances should be up soon for communities like those. Many instances will want to defederate with nsfw instances so it might not be a good idea to allow them here.
So I take it that’s a no.
So, basically, what you’re saying is, I have to have an account on each instance? I already have like 3 accounts on Lemmy cuz I need to split my multiple personalities (in case friend or family get onboard Lemmy, or someone asks for my Lemmy account link), making one on every instance is just… excuse me for saying this, but fuckin’ nuts.
This shit just blows… I don’t even use 3rd party apps on Reddit, might as well go back there…
no, once you’ve made an account on an instance, you can use it to view, post or comment on any post from any other instance.
So whenever there is a nsfw community anywhere on lemmy, you can use this account to access it easily.
I meant as in post content and/or moderate. Viewing is not always enough. Plus, there isn’t that much content on Lemmy to view anyway.
And people can publically see on my profile which communities I’m subscribwd to, so that doesn’t go well if I subscribe my “normal main” to c/UpvotedBecauseOfBoobs. Basically, I have to switch accounts to comment, which is fine, I do it all the time on Reddit, but the app doesnct bring you back to the post you originally viewed, like Reddit does. So, I have to remember the community name, search it in my communities and then search for the post, which, sorry to say, is just a whole lot of time wasted.
Not to mention I also join “normal” subs from my “not so normal” alts to get the feeds there as well, so I can just get the post, view it and switch accounts to comment. I can’t do that here. Why? Cuz most other instances will choose to defederate from NSFW instances 😒… which I can’t see any reason for amyway, it’s not like they host the NSFW content, they just provied the feeds, that’s it.
And let’s say I decide to open a new account on an instance that doesn’t block NSFW instances. That instance can one day decide to block NSFW instances in their feeds. So, here we go again, I have to look for an instance that doesn’t block NSFW content (which is not clear when you join an instance, you have to join it, then realize that it has a whole NSFW block list) and start all over again… I mean, it’s just so time consuming.
I have a total of 3 accounts on Reddit and I have managed to separate stuff with those 3 perfectly so far. Here, 10 accounts might not be enough if every non-NSFW instance decided to defederalize from NSFW instances.
- We won’t be hosting nsfw on our instance but won’t defederalize with it either.
- You can post/moderate other instance’s community from this account.
Effectively, whether the nsfw community was made here or on a seperate instance, you’ll be able to do everything the same way. Hopefully, that clarified some stuff up.
Yeah, but I can’t make an NSFW community here, so I have to open up an account on another instance if I want to make one. That’s fine, but that means I have to wait for things to clear up and a few NSFW friendly instances to pop up… I can wait I gues, what else is there 🤷.
Also, why doesn’t auto-correct work in Jerboa? I have auto-correct set to underline, but it doesn’t underline anything.
Sorry for late reply but we decided to allow nsfw communities on this instance, as long as it’s nothing sketchy.
Thanks. Used r/piracy regularly, so happy to be here
