The BuyItForLife subreddit is trying to figure out what to do with the changes hitting Reddit and some really interesting points about possible attempts to advertise products that aren’t really BIFL. Would be great if we could encourage them to come here. Edit to add link that won’t let Reddit track you: https://teddit.adminforge.de/r/BuyItForLife/comments/14dnxaf/post_blackout_reddit_and_the_future_of/
God damn, the replies in that thread are toxic af.
I’d love to see you all stay on kbin - it’s less engagement for now, but it’s at least more civil. That being said, y’all do what you think is right. Just keep in mind that this protest is just the dead canary in the coal mine for reddit.
@McBinary can we at least eat the canary?
Can we at least cook the canary before eating it?
Of course, it’s coal mine. We got fuel. What could possibly go wrong?
I’m looking for recipes for canaries but it’s not easy to find. Haven’t found any and chatgpt doesn’t wanna collaborate. Let’s just do chicken seasoning!
Possibly an orange glaze
It’s a shame so many people are poopooing moving to the Threadiverse. From the replies I am reading to people suggesting coming here, it seems like people think it’s more convenient to implicated than it actually is and are straight up misinformed about how the Fediverse works.
Looks like some of us need to get active on Reddit again to correct this.

I appreciate that, thanks!
I’d love it if we could filter out products that are truly BIFL, i.e. products that are solid for 10+ years rather than ones that are great for a year or two. If I’m buying for longevity then I don’t want to get something that’ll break or degrade in a short amount of time.
I’d love to see BIFL here.
Unless I horribly screwed up this thread, which is possible given it’s my first here in the Fediverse, I’m fairly certain I posted this link within one of the BIFL magazines here on Kbin
