Easier to let those old phones gather dust in a drawer, survey finds The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has warned that many adults don’t know how to wipe their old devices, and a worrying number of young people just don’t care.…
It’s very easy to not care when it’s widely agreed that corporations and governments slurp up all the data on anyone they can. I know many many people who view giving up their data as a necessary evil when using the internet
Huge chance their data is already sold to thousands of parties who have been breached and had that same information leaked.
tfw even the built in manufacturer provided tools meant to “wipe data” don’t actual wipe data, physical proximity is the safest place for it
Is there a significant risk to not wiping old devices? I usually just leave them be in cause I need to go get some local data from them…
Though usually I replace when they don’t work anymore, so I don’t have many I could do that with 😅
