Tbh, having the screen on the entire time the phone was on charge wouldn’t help. You probably have StandBy set to never turn off the screen. If that’s your personal preference then you may run into this issue often

Have your iPhone diagnosed. Apple can do it remotely. I believe MagSafe and cases don’t work together.
Mine gets hot on the MagSafe single charger, but NOT with the Otterbox stand charger. I have two of them now.
Bro for me magsafe takes ages, with USB-C + 20W it takes 45 minutes. Just plug that badboy in if you don’t want to complain for battery health issues anytime soon.

Something’s wrong there… I only charge via MagSafe most of the time and the phone doesn’t heat up at all, I do lie it on a thawing board overnight which acts like a heatsink

To anyone saying “turn your screen off” I’m using my phone as GPS. If $1000 can’t charge and keep screen on then something is wrong with this POS.
Wireless charging destroyed also my iPhone’s 11 battery and now when I try to charge it, it’s overheating. Probably time to upgrade whole phone since battery replacement is $115 in my country.

I use only MagSafe unless I need a quicker charge. It’s not MagSafe that’s your problem…put your phone down and “touch grass” as the kids say.
I like how no one can provide a viable answer yet people keep screaming no at anyone that brings up AOD. Like 23 pure hours of screen time is CLEARLY unreasonable and unrealistic. You likely have charge optimization and/or clean energy charging on. I turn both off
