Green is dumb
Follow up question: is buying a gen-1 Ultra a bad idea with the 2 out?
Was on the fence as well but I just snagged a eBay refurbished gen 1 for $480 before taxes by using a coupon that gave me $120 off. Comes with a year of eBay warranty as well so check it out if the deals still active
Just don’t pay full price for it, maybe $150 or more discounted
Not at all.
Gen 1 Ultra is perfectly fine. The updates on the 2 are incremental.
I bought this green one from Best Buy and an ultra 2 from Amazon for $740. Sounds like keeping the ultra for $650 is worth it. I don’t plan on upgrading for years and years so that’s the only thing making me want to keep the ultra 2.
Dunno why on earth u got downvoted?!? Have an upvote. Best deal I saw for an Ultra was on eBay, but they’re refurbs… still, from a company that sells a lot of them, and they’re guaranteed to have at least 85% battery. Can also always return if it’s not what you expected. For $485, fyi. I found it on slickdeals, if you need to find the specific link (you need to use a coupon code iirc) most folks there seem to think it’s a good deal.
Green band was how I got a good deal on an S7 a year ago. Green seems to be consistently cheaper and I never see any out in public. Probably related.
Supply and demand deal maybe?
Supply & Demand
Supply and de-band
upvoted you first time. if u keep posting Imma not
Buy the green one and just change the straps (band).
They’re trying to offload more of the green one as they have more of it than starlight I guess. I’d definitely go for the green as it’s nicer IMO and in this case cheaper too.
Less demand
The green band looks great with the ultra
Probably because it have less demand than the others
Supply and demand
More importantly, why is any band for this watch more than $40?
Even more so, why can’t I buy just the watch without a band. By now anyone with an Apple watch has a favorite band they use full time or a drawer full for different uses.
Knowing Apple, it won’t make it any cheaper.
Done in the name of being environmentally friendly.
Apple’s philosophy with primary products at least (aka, not accessories like headphones and chargers), is that the device is ready to use out of the box for 99% of people. That’s why most Mac desktops come with keyboards and mice, the mac mini is the one exception to this philosophy.
With the watch you can instantly wear and charge it out of the box, and it eliminates any strange non-techy gift givers buying the cheapest (bandless) one and giving it to someone only for them to be disappointed they have to buy a band separately - and it guarantees a baseline level of quality for that band so a crappy chinesium 50 cent aliexpress band doesn’t snap and break the watch within the first week.
The band value is a minimum $50 from Apple, it’s very, very easy to find them on sale for substantially less than that, or even cheaper used. After the S8 came out I bought a 45mm S7 Stainless steel, with box, charger, sport band, and 93% battery health for $290.
I would also like the option to just be able to purchase the Watch separately.
If it’s based on less demand that tells you the prices are not based on cost of material, but how much the user base is willing to pay.
What a rip off
Bcoz Nobody buys it
