Minor nitpick: it was time to start worrying about Christian nationalism over twenty years ago. They’ve been trying to legitimize Christian nationalism since at least the founding of the “Moral Majority” when I was a boy. I’ve been trying to sound the alarm about Dominionism and Christian nationalism since the second Bush administration.
But if you’re late to the game, fine. The second best time to start worrying about Christian nationalism is now.

I like to pull that one out right after I ask these people about their opinions of the founding fathers. You can smell the gears burning before the bullshit starts flowing out their mouth again lol.
That’s the most explicitly written stance on religion for the US I’ve heard of, but I’m not sure these CN dummies care whatsoever about what was written as a shipping and anti-piracy deal with Libya, which was also written in Arabic.

It’s possible, but we’ve been talking about that for at least fifteen years to counter the “the Founders intended us to be a Christian nation” nonsense.

Remember when these idiots were worried about Sharia law taking over? They decided to just go that route themselves. Punish them at the polls people.
They were always jealous of Muslim theocracy. They didn’t object to the practice so much as the flavor.
They objected to the competition.
They’ve only worried about Sharia law taking over in the context that it was someone else’s Sharia law. It’s always about who holds power.
I mean, I’m not worried it’s going to happen, but if it did, that would be just as worrying if not more as Christian Nationalism.
When one believes that their political opponents are literal puppets of literal demonic forces, then they are officially a religious extremist lunatic and on a path to mass murder.
Mind you this is not an exaggeration of what these people believe. I was in the thick of an evangelical church some years ago. And this thinking, this dehumanizing of non-Christians was a main reason why I got out.
In the popular-with-Christians book series, Left Behind, as the climax of the series approaches, the believer protagonists conclude that the remaining non-believers are past saving and are literally no different than Satan and his demons. They determine that it is no sin to kill these people. At this point I yeeted the book across the room. That was a couple decades ago so I don’t recall all the details.
Now imagine the headspace the craziest of these mofos are in after 15-20 years of further religious and political brainwashing and the Trump presidency.
It’s always time to worry about that shit.

The tea party was literally just about being financially wise, it was not about religion. It morphed into mises caucus of the libertarian party, it is not christian organization.
The time to start worrying about it was before I was born.
