Come on. One more and I get to see a hung Speaker contest.
I did not mean to phrase it that way but I’m laughing now. But in all honesty, a hung election for speaker only happened during the collapse of the 2nd party system.
When was that?
There was one occasion in 1849, when a month passed along with 59 failed votes because the Democrats with their narrow majority were divided over slavery. The House voted a speaker based on a plurality vote.
My favorite example was in 1855, where the Second Party System completely collapsed and both parties divided over slavery, you had a situation where multiple parties were elected to the 34th Congress so that no one party had a majority. After 133 rounds of voting over two months, a coalition of antislavery and nativist parties managed to elect a new speaker by a plurality vote.
Nobody wants to work anymore
Democrats gaining a trifecta while actively trying to lose would be a super funny outcome
Oh noes. Which democrat will selflessly step in to fill the gap!? Find out soon!
I believe these republicans are dropping out to save America.
These comments deal 1d6 Psychic damage every round.
The myth of the honorable republican will never die.
It’s 10d20 for me
Love too save America by instantly getting a no-show job on the board of some defense contractors or some shit.
This is self-harm
