A lot of liberals can see issues in society, problems. People being oppressed, people unable to afford to live, increasing isolation etc.

But they resist “feel-good” solutions to these problems, that people less educated than them might come up with. Housing too expensive? The answer is clearly not to provide free or subsidized housing. That sounds good, but it would cause untold economic pain, making things worse. Instead we need a 5 year committee exploration into tax breaks for first time home buyers with a small business. This is just rational behavior. Intelligent behavior.

This type of logic can be applied in every situation, where they add “depth” and “complexity” to every situation, so that they can rationalize their slavish adherence to the status quo, and so that they can feel superior to the unenlightened populists.

He has said he respects PSL for doing on the ground organizing and stuff, independent of the electoral voting side which he does think is kind of pointless ultimately.

It’s so revealing when shitheads make complaints like that. For all their talk of “biological facts” in regards to stuff like conditioning, they can’t help but reveal the base misogyny at the core.

I don’t know. If this was the prelude to a serious invasion, wouldn’t they start the offensive right after the communications attacks? I mean I’m not saying they won’t. Israel has certainly developed enough terminal fascist brainworms to attack at bad times tactically, but it seems like if this was planned to be in conjunction with an invasion, they’d have started already.

Though I suppose it’s possible that this attack will be enough to shift their attention northward, separate of a true plan, the feelings of triumph making them stumble their way into an actual invasion. I could see factions in the government being stupidly confident in this moment.

Yeah, all you really need to control a narrative is seed comments, enough bots to give the comments momentum, so that randoms uncritically believe it, and a mod team that’s either passive or sympathetic. If you have that, the momentum will build itself.

Yeah. I don’t disagree that the transition would be rough, that there would be a reactionary tide against it. I just also think that there’s a very real underclass in a precarious position, regardless of the larger income compared to worldwide averages, simply because the base costs of living are also inflated.

I think even with a massive re-evaluation of the dollar, that living standards could still increase for a lot of Americans. A large part of the domestic economy is based around the financialization of critical needs, like healthcare and housing, with prices grossly inflated.

Even if things generally get more expensive, so much would be improved for so many people with just guaranteed housing and the ability to go to a doctor. I don’t think the impact of that can be overstated.

It’s worse, in my opinion. Landmines are fixed in place. Warnings can be put to deter people from approaching. This entirely uncontrolled, random.
