    1. If they leave the information up they can be found liable for that information should someone decide to file suit. Do they not have a right to protect themselves from such suits?

    There is no law against “misinformation”. False statements can be made intentionally or not intentionally, but in either case, both is legal. There are no suits to protect themselves against.

    They could be held liable for copyright infringement, or hosting illegal content (incitement to violence as a example), but no crime is committed by saying the moon landings didn’t happen.
