I’m exactly the same as you, I think the last time I paid attention to anything Pokémon was ruby/sapphire. After that I don’t know anything. I could have a good go at naming the original 151 still but when it became a cash grab I lost interest.

i played Go! starting late 2019. very recently i got into TCG Live. the last cartridge i played was silver, and i hated it. the lore in the first games was that professor oak is THE WORLDS foremost expert in pokemon, and there were 150 of them. i could understand if he didn’t know about mew or togepi but there is no way there are literally thousands that escaped his notice.

i don’t care what kind of retcon they did, there are 151 pokemon. the rest are made up.

i still play the tcg live, but that doesn’t mean all the pokemon they print are real.

I reckon I could even go as far as to say that I understand him overlooking the Regi’s since they are ancient and hidden, but I only remember regirock regice and registeel, I imagine there’s more Regis by now that may have undone the secrecy.

Other than those, I agree with you.

Edit: I just tried to download TCG to try it cos I collected the cards as a kid and it piqued my interest but apparently I can’t even make an account because something keeps going wrong ☹️
