I suspect it’s more like “Hey, so… umm… I caught this… and don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed chasing and catching it, but when it comes to eating it… do you want to swap for some cheese and butter?”
My impression has always been that when cats bring you dead animals they’re saying “Hey, you. This thing was fun, then it died and stopped being fun. Make it fun again.”
Nah they’re just donating some of their food since you’re clearly incapable of catching rats yourself.
“Hello large adoptive kitten. I have not seen you catch and kill any prey. It is about time you did, this is what it looks like.”
