Will we rue the day Levy chose Vicario over Raya?

If we do, it will have to get in line will all the other rued days in the life of a Tottenham fan.

All eyes are on our fabulous goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as we head into a new season with a goalie that was lauded by many as if they either knew him personally or watched oodles of Italian football.

I’m straightforward when it comes to spending money; when I spend, I feel I understand the value I’m getting. So when I buy a shirt that costs £10, I appreciate that at most takeaway pizza places, that sort of money won’t include sides and drinks. I think my expectations are grounded.

It’s not impossible to find something inexpensive and think to oneself I feel like I stole this, but that’s not a common experience.

Many fans are convinced that Vicario is either top drawer or will come good when he gets accustomed to his new team.

At a cost, which includes add-ons, of just £17.2 million, this is a player that is not quite a £10 shirt, but we know that Raya who we were close to signing, has been loaned to Arsenal and is now valued at £30 million. Details of Raya’s extension are reported here by Sky Sports.

What we know for certain, is that in our fractured preseason, Vicario has looked unconvincing even against mediocre opponents.

It’s way too early to judge him. In my opinion Raya is not good enough and won’t be getting any better, so I’m happy we’re taking more of a risk here. Ange really rates him so I’m hopeful

@BobCg @hallenbeck@lemmy.world Sincerely hope he does work out. He seems a like an intelligent guy and is said to be an extremely hard worker. I’m interested in seeing more of his footwork - acting as that third CB like most of the progressive keepers do these days.
