This community has really taken off so I thought it’s time I said hi! I’m your mod, SomeoneElse. I use a couple of accounts but I’m the same person - SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk SomeoneElse@feddit.uk and SomeoneElse@lemmy.world. You can contact me at any account.

How this community is moderated.

This community has quickly grown into the largest community on the feddit.uk instance. Despite 3.7k subscribers, 40 posts and 835 comments I’ve only had to remove a single comment for breaking the rules. Thank you to everyone who’s subscribed, voted, posted or commented. Thank you for following the rules and helping to ensure that this is a welcoming and inclusive community. To ensure this community remains a friendly place, please report any comments that break the rules listed below. I’m on Lemmy a lot, but I don’t have time to read every comment made on every community I moderate so I mainly rely on mod reports generated by users.

If you break the rules, your comment is likely to be removed. I will also message you with either a reminder to follow the rules or a warning. You get one warning. If you break the rules again, you will be banned.

Posting guidelines.

  • Posts in this community must be of property (inside or out) listed for sale which contains a terrible element. “Terrible” can refer to:
  • the photo itself (finger over the lens, too far away, people in the shot, bad Photoshop, etc.)
  • the property (weird layout, questionable plumbing, unsound structure, etc.)
  • the interior (carpeted bathrooms, awful taste interiors, weird mannequins/taxidermies/art, inflatable pools indoors, etc.)
  • the actual listing itself including unusual descriptions and unrealistic pricing. However, this isn’t a community to discuss the housing market in general. This is a comedic community - let’s keep it light.
  • Photos can be sourced from anywhere and be any age, but please check they haven’t already been posted.
  • Censor any names/contact details of private individuals.
  • Mark the post NSFW if it includes nudity or sensitive content

Rules.

This community follows the rules of the feddit.uk instance and the lemmy.org code of conduct. I’ve summarised them here:

  1. Be civil, remember the human.
  2. No insulting or harassing other members. That includes name-calling.
  3. Respect differences of opinion. Civil discussion/debate is fine, arguing is not. Criticise ideas, not people.
  4. Keep unrequested/unstructured critique to a minimum.
  5. Remember we have all chosen to be here voluntarily. Respect the spent time and effort people have spent creating posts in order to share something they find amusing with you.
  6. Swearing in general is fine, swearing to insult another commenter isn’t.
  7. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia or any other type of bigotry.
  8. No incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies.

I’ve created a couple of communities here that I missed from Reddit and this one is probably my favourite. I’ve really enjoyed the nicer environment here on Lemmy, and it’s probably the thing I’m most keen to preserve in this community. At the same time, I don’t want to be an overly authoritarian mod so I need your help, input, and feedback to make the community into the kind of place that the majority of subscribers want it to be. I’m going to leave this post stickied at the top for a while [Edit: you can’t sticky posts on this instance yet]; if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments regarding the rules and posting guidelines, please feel free to leave your thoughts below. I will read all of them.

Thank you all, it’s great to have you here! SomeoneElse

Yes, examples from any country are fine. I’m British and this instance is hosted in the UK, but anyone is welcome to join this community and contribute photos from anywhere in the world.
