I live in Texas. I wish I was in a union. We had a pro-labor progressive candidate running in the primaries in the next district over from mine. The party preferred the corrupt anti-labor incumbent Henry Cuellar. In my district, we had a pro-labor progressive running in the general against a maga chud. The party cut her funding during the crucial last month. This is during the election in which the party bought ads for maga candidates.
Let’s not pretend that Democrats have been fighting for unions for the past 40 years instead of jumping in to take credit when unions started wielding power brought on by the post-pandemic worker shortage. Democrats are the party of NAFTA. They’re the party of Sinema’s gleeful thumbs down to raising the minimum wage.
I suppose if you live in a union state where the gods dwell, you can look down on people like me who can see the party that abandoned labor and then wants credit for labor’s accomplishments.
