The jury in former President Donald Trump’s New York hush money trial has resumed deliberations after asking to rehear potentially crucial testimony about the alleged scheme at the heart of the history-making case.
Eh… are there going to be any real consequences though? I have a feeling he’s not going to jail and he’s still gonna be the Republican candidate for president. Is this gonna end up like the impeachment? That didn’t do shit. :(
An impeachment is just an investigation; if it doesn’t lead to a conviction (as his didn’t) it doesn’t mean shit. Agent Orange just got himself a felony conviction - what that means in terms of sentencing, idk - my hope is they throw the book at him and make him do some actual time. I doubt that’ll happen, cuz he’s Trump and always seems to find a way to weasel out of this shit… but then, he didn’t weasel out of this one, so who knows.
I’m interested in what having a felony conviction means in terms of political candidacy, which might require setting some new precedents, since afaik we’ve never had a felon run for president before.
In any case, this isn’t like those articles we’ve beein seeing for fucking YEARS exclaiming how he just took a major legal blow only for nothing to come of it - a felony conviction is a MAJOR leap forward, and gives me hope I haven’t felt in years that he’ll start facing some real consequences!
