    Ahoy, Lather Games!

    • Brush: Order of the Midnight Animals — Midnight Kraken #FAUXFUR
    • Razor: Böker S.S. Paris Wins
    • Lather: Old Spice — Original
    • Aftershave: Old Spice — Original
    • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Spiced

I didn’t take any risks with the theme this time, and relevance of the post and fragrance are that they are spicy fragrances.

This day is really u/Cowzilla3 and TGSO appreciation day, but it was also a very welcome opportunity to use my Kraken brush and Böker boat razor.

Good shave today, and the Old Spice cream (a gift from u/Semaj3000 when we met in Oxford two years ago) creates a decent lather, but the scent is very different from the splash (sweeter, less cinnamon).

To honour our reigning champion, u/Priusaurus, I want to recall a few highlights of his stellar run last year. He automated lathering, seduced the djudges with his hot mating dance, fought Skynet, shaved on a sidewalk/restaurant terrace, shaved in a fucking ice bath, did it again (!) out of spite, developed an interesting witch hunting technique, shaved with a butt plug, and managed one of the most dignified sign-off shaves in lather games history. Truly an inspiration, and I can’t wait to see what our champion has in store this year.

    • Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
    • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
    • Blade: Feather New Hi-Stainless (1)
    • Lather: Central Texas Soaps - Cherry Pipe - Soap
    • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Admiral - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Cross/Cut - Warm Woods - EdT

I haven’t used a Feather in forever. My impression of them has been that they’re fine, but a little harsh on my skin. That’s probably still true in some razors, but it felt good in the Legacy.

  • Sunday, June 2, 2024: Lazy Sunday

    • Preshave: Proraso Green Preshave
    • Brush: Zenith 506U XS Horse 🐎
    • Razor: Dovo Barbarossa Stainless
    • Lather: Le Père Lucien Narcisse
    • Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
    • Postshave: Floid The Genuine
    • Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm

I went back to the Barbarossa, and it showed me how much I had screwed up honing my three go-to straights with the natural stone. They will have to go back to the synthetics, for nice and easy shaves.

    Have a good Sunday!

      • I don’t know - and that’s the main issue 😭

I guess that at least part of the issue is that the natural stone is less wide than the synthetics. I’ll hone them on the synthetics, and try the natural stone with the Chinese straight I ordered by mistake

Ugh, that sucks, sorry mate 😥

If you figure it out, I’d be grateful to hear the solution!

    • Brush: Thäter Faux Ivory 29mm 2-band Silvertip

    • Razor: Koraat 14-2.0 8/8" Full Hollow

    • Lather: Shulton - Old Spice - Soap

    • Post Shave: Shulton - Old Spice - Aftershave

    • Post Shave: Thayers - Lemon - Toner

    • Fragrance: Floris of London - No. 89 - Eau de Toilette

    • Talc: Yardley Gold

God that was good! Surprisingly good lather for a 45 year old soap, and the scent is still there, though weaker. I took extra time wallowing in the goodness of Old Spice, and I presume that u/cowzilla3 would deem this the minimum required time. I have used Shulton Old Spice aftershave for many years. My father used it as well, so it’s definitely a nostalgia-fest for me. No. 89 has been around forever too. Its scent blends well with Old Spice and it is also period-correct.

I took Paleontology Day literally and used a razor that has mammoth ivory scales. This relates more to the challenge than to u/Priusaurus.

However, I mostly participate in the Lather Games for the entertainment value of the SOTD comments, and Priusaurus’ comments are consistently entertaining, or interesting. He was deserving of the win last year and I’m following his pursuit of it again this year.
