In many ways, yes absolutely. By being a mindless consumer “just buying a product”, you leave it up to the balancing of the economy to determine if that is a wise decision or not.

Last I checked, giving a rich person even more money is always a stupid move.

I’m not a mindless consumer (aka sheeple) for making a decision someone else doesn’t approve of.

The alternatives to YouTube Premium are

      • Ads: won’t happen

      • Ad-Block: won’t work (anymore)

      • no YouTube: there are no great free or cheaper alternatives

“I’m not a mindless consumer! I just said I’ll pay for something I don’t have to, to a corporation that doesn’t need the money, that’s all!”

Where do I get the same content where the creators get paid too?

I can currently choose between other paid services or systems that circumvent any gratification for the artists.

I’ve never used Patreon so maybe I don’t get it right but:

Not every Youtube channel has a Patreon, and even then I’d have to pledge every single one that does which would ruin me.

The end of YouTube would not be a terrible outcome. Instead of a worldwide monopoly on DIY video, new and perhaps less evil options would have a chance.
