I don’t think the point of a post like this is saving the world from Amazon, you might be thinking a little too large. As a lower middle class American, I don’t have a ton of say in the workings of the world. But I do see things like this, and I can choose to direct what little spending power I have to more ethical companies. It might not make a difference in the grand scheme of things, but I’d like to try to do right in the few things I DO have control over. A couple little changes I can make are cancelling Amazon prime (already did a long time ago) and using other cloud solutions at work. I can also share this with people I know who have not yet cancelled Prime but could be swayed by this information.

I think it’s easy to reach a place of nihilism and lash out at others for being naive enough to think they can make a difference. The world as we know it will likely be ending sooner than later, and the people with the power to make change don’t give a fuck. But personally, I know I’ll be more comfortable watching the end of the world knowing I took care of the people I love and made positive choices where I can. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than nothing. The world will need empathetic people who can keep getting back up on the other side of the next few decades.
