The incident was identified in October 2022 after suspicious activity was detected on our systems. It became clear that hostile actors had first accessed the systems in August 2021.

Ok, I get why it may take time to detect intruders, but 10 months between detection and announcement seems too much time.

I might be totally wrong here, but I always thought the info held by the electoral commission was public anyway?

Isn’t this data used by debt collectors to find you?

Information on the open register is available.

Information on the closed register (people who have opted out) is restricted to legitimate uses, and more controlled.

Why did it take 14 months to discover the breach? Why did it take 10 more months to disclose it? Absolute clowns.

Never in my life will I support digital voting.

This wasn’t a hack on digital voting it was a breach of records for the electoral registers.
