Very likely that’s not the case. This is a common occurrence in people with PTSD, where due to the abnormal levels of stress hormones which the body normally produces in extremely stressful situations in order to trigger a “fight or flight” response.
That’s why you have a lot of people with PTSD wake up with this sort of panic reactions, or similarly react to other stimuli (fireworks, thunder, etc)
