A good man.
He did what was right.
I would just like to say that Joe Biden has been a great President. He became a senator in his twenties, and his political career is ending in his eighties. As President, he has passed an absolutely astonishing amount of great legislation with an extremely dysfunctional and divided Congress. He has handled foreign policy well, and reassured the United States’ allies. He did this in spite of an opposition party with a powerful media apparatus that sees compromise as a dirty word and was hellbent on obstructing him at every turn.
His achievements include the following:
- American Rescue Plan
- Bi-partisan Infrastructure Bill
- CHIPS Act
- Inflation Reduction Act
And so much more.
Despite these tremendous accomplishments, I truly believe the world would be the poorer if Biden did not suspend his campaign. Time is a cruel mistress, and at 81 years old it was clear it had come for Biden.
In the end, Biden served his nation well for more than half a century. In less than four years he is already an extremely consequential President, and one of his greatest acts will be recognizing his own weakness and stepping aside to give his country a better chance to stop Donald Trump.
What now?
It’s certainly unprecedented, but Biden has endorsed Kamala (not surprised - she is his VP).
If she ends up being the nominee, we rally behind her to beat Trump and exile him from politics once and for all.
If it’s someone else, we rally behind them.
In the end, we’ve just gotta be blue-no-matter-who to stop Trump and Project 2025.
