To me the biggest news is that Andreas Seidl is leaving.
Yeah, the whole reason he left McLaren was for Audi and now he’s gone before seemingly doing anything.
PURELY SPECULATION/THINKING OUT LOUD
I wonder if it has anything to do with the rapid change in direction that happened at McLaren vs the awful performance at Sauber. There were a lot of people at McLaren giving credit for the uptick in performance to a change in direction right after Andrea took over. Since then they have only continued to move forward.
I always felt like Andreas did a pretty decent job during his time at McLaren but maybe some of the problems were because of him, who knows.
It’s a stretch but I could see it being used as an excuse if someone at Audi feels Mattia is the better hire. I don’t think anyone expected much out of Sauber this year but so far their showing has been pathetic.
Oliver Hoffmann and Andreas Seidl are leaving? Either this is a sacking because of Saubers current performance or they will get send to another future Audi project, I guess…
Binotto coming in is almost like Sauber getting closer to Ferrari once again
Michael Schmidt reports for AmuS that there was a power struggle between Hoffmann and Seidl which led the Audi leadership to release both of them instead of taking one or the other’s side.
Both Schmidt and Piergiuseppe Donadoni report that Mike Krack could also join Audi in the near future as COO, if he agrees to the offer.
Donadoni further says that Binotto has already contacted people within Ferrari and made an offer to Enrico Gualtieri, Ferrari’s Technical Director of the Power Unit.
Well this seems out of nowhere.
