The franchise owner says it will place its Russian business into bankruptcy.
Taking the strong moral stance to leave the Russian market after they’ve thoroughly exhausted all options to continue making money there.
And by “after they’ve thoroughly exhausted all options to continue making money there”, you mean that they stopped royalty payments and investments Mach last year and have been trying to sell the business since then in an effort to avoid taking the massive financial hit of bankrupting and abandoning the 107 franchises and 68 restaurants they own.
Which is the sensible thing to do, as otherwise you just give them all as a free gift to the Russians.they stopped royalty payments
I love how [they stopped taking money out of Russia and instead let their Russian franchises keep it all] is supposed to be a good thing.
The truth of the matter is they did the bare minimum they felt they had to under the sanctions regime and held on for the last year and a half hoping this whole thing would just blow over and business as usual could continue. They could have exited in a week and ate the costs like other companies did, instead they left all of the stores, a third of which they own outright, open for as long as they could.
Better late than never I guess.
Had no idea they were still doing business there.

The Russians got smart and bought Carryout Tracking on every pizza order. The drone strikes bankrupted Domino’s, not their food-adjacent menu.
