Better nate than lever to post this. Anyway, I am almost done with my 2nd playthrough of the Elden Ring DLC. I have now beaten Gauis, Messmer, Midra, Metyr without summons or ashes. All that’s left is the final boss solo. Messmer is honestly a fantastic fight. Have a good week everyone
I’ve been playing a handheld port of indie rpg beyblade/yugioh mashup Bumpers & Broadswords Maximum
Back on my bullshit of trying to beat the original wizardry games. I downloaded and got running Llylgamyn Saga with the help of a comrade on here. I’m also going to check out Rainbox Six with the Black Ops mod that makes the original games standalone on pc.
I dusted off my old VR headset and finally set aside the 67 GB of free space required on my Windows box to start a Half Life: Alyx play-through.
So far, it’s great. The “gravity gloves” play mechanic is very clever and feels comfy. It’s also very clearly a game that was purpose-built for VR. A lot of pancake games that were ported over to VR after-the-fact are very clumsy and the controls SUCK (ie: Minecraft, Skyrim, Fallout) but this is very clearly designed for VR from start to finish. I’ve not used my VR headset in like multiple years at this point and I forgot how immersive it was, even with my old Vive Pro2 headset (which I originally bought at the start of the covid19 lockdowns, knowing full well I’d be cooped up inside for a while).
It’s been so many years that I’ve played a Half Life game I had to read through the plot / lore of the game for a refresh. Reminded me what a hugely influential game Half Life was, and also reminded me that Counter Strike was originally a Half Life mod, back in the day.
halfway through Dawntrail!
got back into Monster Hunter World recently
tried playing rain world but got my ass handed to me, so I’ve started playing hollow knight instead. good game so far explored the first underground area.
I’ve been playing a bit of Fallout London, I’m not far enough to give any informed opinions except that it feels extremely modded in a very good way. Somehow everything it has in common and everything different about it compared to Fallout 4 highlights how unacceptably bad that game was.
Spent the last couple of weeks on The First Descendant. It’s very poorly optimised, the women are way oversexualised, and ultimately doesn’t really do a great job of combining Destiny and Warframe. Most of the weapons feel very similar, with only marginal differences in damage per shot, rounds per magazine, and rate of fire between members of each weapon group. The modding is pretty tame, so a few levels will make a weapon more powerful than mods will, and you get higher level gear dropping with basically every mission you do. The static nature of the missions makes them a lot more boring to grind when you do have to go back for rare drops, too. The descendants unfortunately very much feel like bargain bin warframes, with cheap knock-offs of their abilities on long cooldowns and little room for cooperative play.
Anyway last night it inspired me to update Warframe and find out what this Jade business is about. It’s that or write several pages on how comparing TFD to Warframe highlights how the tricks and workarounds they use/have used to make the game run more efficiently also makes for a better user experience.
I fell off of Mad Max slightly further than last time so maybe it’s just fate at this point that I never finish it.
Got 2 more white chips on decks in Balatro and really starting to hone my early game. I was reading about later game strats and I guess deck thinning becomes more prominent which makes me sad since that is my weak spot on deck builders(you know, the main mechanic lol).
I started a second playthrough of Supraland last night too and damn it’s such a good game. There’s an ongoing debate with g*mers about whether a metroidvania can be 3D and I will always bring this to the table as an example.
Honorable mention: My kid just beat Axiom Verge this morning(although he had infinite life and extra damage cheat codes on). But it was his first experience with a metroidvania and he got a lot of it done on his own. I had to redirect him a few times when he got lost though. He seemed to really like it even though he skipped most of the dialog since he’s a kid lol.
Bought a cheap steam key for smt 3 nocturne and modded the hell out of it. It’s been pretty fun aside from the time I got ambushed, insta killed and lost a few hours of progress because my dumbass never saves.
