I’m migrating my subreddit to lemm.ee and I am having an issue adding a banner and icon. Is there a guide or specifications on image type and dimensions?

Thank you!

Happy to help! Welcome to Lemmy :)

Also a bit of unsolicited advice, please don’t take it the wrong way. I see your community is about dice games. There are already communities set up for RPGs in general and TTRPGs, as well as specific games (there’s a whole instance dedicated to Pathfinder!), and a dice making community too.

Since navigation and how to find interesting things to sub to is the biggest topic of confusion for newbies here, it might be worth adding a featured post in your group just to let people know these other related ones exist and how to get there. Drop me a DM if you’re not sure how best to put the list together.

      Best of luck!

Thank you for the advise - I’ll do that.

My community is more about non-commercial / fan created dice games so hopefully there will not be overlap. I’ll search for the other communities you specified and will create a post with links.

Is there a general template or format that other community creators use for the linking?

        Best regards,

        Mark

Is there a general template or format that other community creators use for the linking?

Honestly not really, everyone is kind of stumbling around trying to figure things out at the moment. You can autocomplete community names by starting with !nameofcommunity like this !ttrpgs@lemmy.blahaj.zone, but the problem there is that it takes you directly to the original instance (which newbies tend to interpret as it “logging them out”).

Best format I’ve found, which is not perfect, is to manually add the following after the autocompleted version ([Lemmy](/c/community@instance) / [Kbin](/m/community@instance))

So the above example now becomes !ttrpgs@lemmy.blahaj.zone (Lemmy / Kbin) which gives people on both Lemmy and Kbin a local link to go straight to where they can actually interact / subscribe.

I know better linking is something that’s being discussed and worked on by the devs but it’s one of many things we just have to be a bit patient with atm.

Perfect - I’ll get on that.

I’m currently porting (cut and pasting) some posts over from that ‘other site’ to my community now.
