She charged the cop in her car! Of course they are going to shoot! What the hell was she thinking? Cops didn’t shoot a shoplifter, they shot a murderer mid murder attempt.

Yes, I agree with this. I also want to see the video because sometimes what a cop calls charging isn’t how I would use the word. But until I see otherwise, this sounds like a reasonable response.

Maybe, get out of the way? Like police officers in civilised societies?

If a car is going fast enough to endanger you, killing the driver will not stop the car.

Personally, the first thing I’d do if a car was moving dangerously fast toward me is to stand still, draw my weapon, and fire at it.

          • No, they are small and, from the front, almost completely covered. If you for some reason have to stop a car charging at you and you don’t have a high enough caliber rifle to kill the engine then the driver is your only real option. The better options are to not get in front of the car in the first place or to move expeditiously out of the car’s path. Even if you get the diver to stop accelerating that doesn’t stop the car, it’s momentum will continue to carry it towards you so shooting the driver isn’t a way to save yourself but it is your best chance of stopping the car.

As a police officer, it is always our priority to maximize the death and destruction we leave in our wake.

If I shoot the tires and the car kills me, that is only one sacrifice to the great blue line. If I however shoot the suspect, the sacrifices will be at least doubled. (Even more in this case! Bonus points!)

          No.

But your subtext explains that you’re okay with murder. You are part of the problem.

Who says she charged at the cops? The cops that murdered her? Cops lie in their statements every single day. Double lies if they killed someone. A hungry, pregnant mother lifting food isn’t gonna suicide herself and baby like that, makes no sense

Call me crazy, but if I had a car coming right at me I’d be diving out of the way of it, not continuing to stand in the path of the car to try to shoot the driver in the off chance that that doesn’t cause them to entirely lose control of the vehicle that coming right at me
