I had this exact discussion within the last year. The first egg was a chicken egg. Every subsequent egg was a chicken’s egg.

IIRC modern chickens have DNA from 3 species of Jungle Fowl, so yes, it was an egg from a not quite chicken fertilized by a Jungle Fowl.
