It’s just my humble opinion, but I’m not a fan of the new look to have the score and arrows visible on the main page. I feel like it’s too easy to vote and move on and not truly interact with the post.
Also, the numbers play an immediate influence in whether you want to check the post out or not. It’s too easy to make a snap judgement and I feel like it reduces engagement overall.
Just my thoughts. Would love to hear others as well!
I personally disagree, but I’d love to see the option. I come from using Relay as my Reddit app and one of the things I loved is the dev supported a bunch of different view options so people could do what worked best for them.
Obviously core issues and bugs need attention first, but I’d support any customization options when it comes to the UI.
Personally I disagree, I use small card view and for short posts I can read all the information on it without having to open it. Especially for posts with low engagement like for example a new ‘asklemmy’ post, the question might be interesting but no comments, so I’ll upvote hoping to increase the visibility and hopefully have someone answer the post. Hiding the vote buttons would reduce engagement overall which at this point in time with a low population engagement needs to be made as fast and as easy as possible to encourage it
I don’t know how other 3rd party apps looked, but Boost for Reddit had multiple options for different layouts, so I’m hoping that eventually this app will have the same.
It’s currently close to the layout I used so I personally don’t mind it but more options are always better
It seems to be a pretty core element of a voting-based link aggregation site. You can use browser plugins to block it on your end
This is about the Jerboa app though, so browser extensions wouldn’t be an option here.
Fair. I could see this being a feature request but again, voting is kinda the whole point of these type services so unless OP is wanting to put forward a PR, I don’t see it happening
Yeah, I wouldn’t have thought it’d be a top priority. Always in favour of people having customisation options though,as long as the dev is amenable.
