Original Title: TIL one big obstacle standing in the way of clean energy in California is the lack of high tension power lines that can move the electricity. Developing the new grid to accommodate solar farms may take a decade.
But it’s sunny everywhere in CA. Instead of building expensive, inefficient power lines that will have to cross environmentally sensitive areas, why not build solar roofs over the hundreds of miles of freeway that are already there? This will also provide shade for all those people stuck in traffic – win/win !
