When you throw all your marginalised voters under the bus to score pick me points with the most evil ghouls on Earth.

Because they represent the same class of people in reality (the owners of major capital) and only differ around the margins. Since neither ACTUALLY represents the workers of the country, they don’t actually care. They’re running on the “hey, our candidate isn’t cheeto Hitler, so vote for us” and hoping that their base will ignore that their candidate was an integral part to the violent police state of the settler colonial government that they’d loudly protested 4 years ago.

Oh I get why the actual Democrats are okay with this. I guess I should have phrased it as “why are democrat voters okay with this.”

They are frogs in the well, or Plato’s cavemen. And even with this, party still can’t risk even a tiny sliver of democracy, note they didn’t even had primaries this time and last two times primaries were utter farce (and i wouldn’t be surprised if previous ones too but i did not watched back then).

Oh I know. I’ve brought this up before. Democracy in the states is a cheap joke.

I have said it before and I will say it again: they are gunning for the Republican donors, not their voters.

It’s simply how Citizens United is supposed to work. Any political party in America without huge campaign contributions is destined to fail. You literally cannot win elections without huge donations for campaigning. Trump has pissed off enough of the traditional Republican base (national security state, military industrial complex, oil and gas industry) during his four years of tenure as President and the Democrats are openly courting them.

In fact, Trump is so desperate for financial support that he has to platform Elon fucking Musk during his rallies these days. But not even Elon could save Trump from the sinking ship. It wouldn’t take long before the two huge egos come to a clash and the MAGA culture war infested Republican Party implode from the inside.

I once read this quote about French neoliberal politicians, that they’d rather lose and get the “right” kind of voters, than win with the vote of the rabble. Same thing with democrats, their goal isn’t to win regardless, it’s to ensure that they only win if the PMC are the base they have to respond to.
