title self-explanatory. Sync is great and all, but i often make comments and then a few days later i remember i made them and i see i got replies
I’ll be adding background messaging checking in the coming week. Cheers.
If Lemmy doesn’t have push notifications, would this be bad for battery if enabled?
Not great, not terrible
Sync for Reddit had different time sets, I suppose the implementation will be similar, so you’d be able to adjust it in a way that it isn’t fetching the notifications too often.
Lemmy does not have push notification support. To enable notifications, 3rd party apps will have to make API calls to the lemmy API at regular intervals which would be costly for
- Lemmy as the api traffic would increase massively.
- For your phone battery as sync would keep running in the background and keep sending API queries
There is no notification support right now
you don’t get notifications (for now) but you still get the number of replies in red over the inbox tab.
i dont even see that, unless im looking in the wrong place
there, i have 1 unread reply
Personally, I would disable that feature if it arrives anyway.
