Patriarchal men learn to associate femininity with negativity, and as a result their ability to truly admire women is stunted. A patriarchal man may value aspects of women he is able to conquer because they make his conquering of her more impressive to other men, but his true admiration, respect, and even deference is always reserved for the actions and accomplishments of other men.
