Bullshit, German carmakers also have production in China with partial ownership of Chinese brands, and all Tesla sold in Europe are made in China.

It’s not where the car manufactured that’s important it’s where it’s designed.

Western car makers both in the US and Europe insist on making electric vehicles that are hugely high-end and out of the price range for most people. We need electric 5 seat hatchbacks.

The only moderately reasonable electric vehicle from a major Western manufacturer is the F-150 Lightning and that’s not even available in Europe because frankly it’s a stupid buy for Europeans.

This is absolutely about cars MADE in China.

hugely high-end and out of the price range for most people.

There are lots of cheaper options in Europe now, and more coming all the time.
The new thing is that they are getting better range, because batteries are getting cheaper.
There are lots of excellent option around 30K EUR/USD.

And cars like the Renault 5 expected January are coming at just below 20,000.- EUR making it basically also 20k USD here in Denmark.
Currently there are a couple of options just below 22k EUR. But as stated more are coming.

USA has chosen politically to have less competition by adding 100%¤ import tax to cars from China. So of course prices are higher in USA.

It should be pretty obvious. My point is that German and US automakers aren’t just “sitting in the corner”.
Also it’s ridiculous to call western EV’s shitty.
Maybe it’s an American sentiment? Because they have 100% tax on Chinese cars, making them generally completely unavailable in USA.
And possibly causing higher prices in USA.

You are misinformed, the European car industry especially VW which is by far the biggest was against EU tariffs, because their biggest market is China. But EU introduced the tariffs anyway with Germany voting against.
IDK about USA carmakers. but USA has a freaking 100% import tax on cars from China!!! USA is nuts.
