The European Union is due on Wednesday to publish draft rules that give legal underpinnings for a digital euro, if the European Central Bank decided to issue one in coming years.

I already have digital euro on Revolut.
Euro is already digital. When they debase our money they add new zeros in the ECB accounting software first, before running the printers.
ECB:“We need to get rid of these pesky paper notes and printers so we can reduce the cost inflating the supply to 0.”
Could somebody maybe ELI5 this? I don’t get it, I haven’t used cash in over a decade, what’s the difference with the digital euro and… Normal non-cash transactions? Alternatively, how will this screw us over and make things more expensive? Thanks!
