Florida was democratic when I was a child (walkin’ Lawton Chiles never lost a race, and we were the only gulf state to disallow drilling off our coast.) And solidly purple until very, very recently (last few years) just gerrymandered to fuck once the Republicans seized the State Senate so it wasn’t so obvious.
