Same here. There’s so much unresolved after Remake. How is Zack’s new history going to integrate with the present day? What is Sepiroth really trying to do? Why does Aerith have knowledge of the future? I was always psyched for the remake since before it was even officially confirmed, but I never thought I’d be able to enjoy it as a new story. They’ve exceeded my expectation in that way.
The story is off the rails, and they spent all of Chapter 18 really driving that home. And then the first trailer started with “the future, even if it has been written, can be changed. So focus on the future, not the past.”
I still expect the game to follow the original story’s main beats, but how they’re going to get there is a mystery to me when so many huge new factors are in play.
