Sure, the very first iPhone released today, but does anyone remember the first Android smartphone?

In October of 2008 HTC’s T-Mobile G1, or HTC Dream as it’s known outside the U.S would launch being the first phone with the Android OS. The G1 was priced at $179 — which was pretty affordable even in those days — and featured top-of-the-line specs including a Qualcomm MSM7201A processor, 192MB of RAM, and 256MB of internal storage (expandable up to 16GB). It also stocked a 3.15MP rear camera, and a 1,150mAh battery.

I still have mine! Sadly it’s bricked and I have no clue how to fix it. I thought the G2 was an improvement on this design in many ways but the G1 was pretty amazing (excluding the lack of headphone jack).

I have all of my old cell phones, including the one I drive over. There are at least two original flip Razors in the box. I don’t want to just hand over old hard drives full of my data.

I had both as well. The G2 had more powerful HW for sure but the keyboard was worse: no dedicated number row, no physical Back button (and the Home button was pretty sad too) and the slider mechanism wasn’t as robust.
