At a glance the K992 bottom row looks typical to 1800 boards, am I miassing something?

Ah no, part of why 1800 boards get to be compact is in the squishing of that area. The good news is that it’s pretty much shared with 75% boards, so while not universal, a lot of keycap sets will also have 1u modifiers just for that.
