Gold doesn’t tarnish so a better connection is made…
It can make a difference for analog audio like what’s shown there, and gold plated cables can be as cheap as $10. The real scam is expensive HDMI or other digital cables. A $700 HDMI cable will show the identical picture as a $3 eBay cable, as long as either don’t get damaged.
