Decided to stop making posts on /r/gunners and just keep my posts exclusively here. Too lazy to post twice.
@poorlydrawnarsenal @I_am_the_grass forgive the gatecrash, a Fediverse question
I am following @gunners
via my mas.to account, but when I click on a lemmy post, I get taken to the site & this notice:
You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: !gunners@lemmy.world
but pasting
into my search bar at mas.to does absolutely nothing?
It’s confusing but following that account is subscribing to the Lemmy community, it just shows up in your mastodon feed.

It gets a bit wonky when you view it from the Lemmy instance. Something that I hope that the powers that be fix soon with federation.
@poorlydrawnarsenal do replies made from mastodon show up there?
Yup, so I’m currently replying to you from my Lemmy account.
@poorlydrawnarsenal that’s great, thanks. That means I don’t have to create a new social media account, yay
Yeah I think federation is really cool. Imagine using your Twitter account to reply to an Instagram post in your feed and your reply shows up on Instagram. It’s just hard to explain federation without using it haha.
@ronsboy67 @poorlydrawnarsenal the only thing I don’t think you can do from Mastodon is create a post on Lemmy
@ronsboy67 @poorlydrawnarsenal @I_am_the_grass @gunners
I honestly don’t understand what the Lemmy stuff is all about… does this means it links with multi-accounts? Such as posting from one area which posts across multiple platforms?
Yeah, so Lemmy is like Reddit. It’s a thread based social media site, but you can access it and comment on posts from your mastodon feed.
So theoretically you only need one account to access the fediverse equivalents of Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, etc.
It’s for sure not perfect. It’s wonky but it’s also kinda early days for it
@poorlydrawnarsenal ah okay… I understand… I tried to do this once with messengers, but it all failed… but seems more possible with social media…
@Hantsravens @poorlydrawnarsenal it helps that a lot of these sites are entering their “enshittification” phases (as @pluralistic has coined) at around the same time. A lot of thought went into how to grab the web back from tech monopolies several years ago and this is the result.
The various exoduses has put a strain on the smaller servers and they’re still working through that (especially the Lemmy servers) but hopefully as time goes on things get smoother.
@poorlydrawnarsenal thanks for explaining
Yeah I quit Reddit like right from the start; it’s easier this way. Annoyingly not nearly as much stuff to doomscroll on Lemmy but it’ll get there eventually. And Twitter helps out with F5 antsiness lol
Yea, I tried doing that but I’m also a heavy content contributor on /r/gunners so I guess it was harder.
But I have to pick a platform eventually.
I haven’t been back to Reddit since they nuked the apps. I like to think it’s a total graveyard.
Apparently Charles Watts left Goal to fly solo because they asked him to cover Chelsea and Spurs as well as Arsenal. Absolute chad move.
We love to see it
Once, a recruitment consultant was trying to schmooze me, as I was a sort of hiring manager. They invited me to the company box at White Hart Lane…“It’s a bit of a laugh”. I very politely told him that I would rather drink a yard of my own diarrhea.
Having said that, I once went with a friend who worked for a company that had 4 seats at Stamford Bridge for client schmoozing. He took one client plus me and another mutual friend. The knuckle draggers whipped Reading (I think) about 4-0.
We are about to cross the terminal point of 1000 members, once we have that this community will take on a life of its own.
Kind of curious to see if we will be able to keep up posting goals and match thread… but given how much of a toxic shitshow they were on Reddit, not sure if it’s needed.
Yeah, let’s aim to be better than the sub.
@Panzer517 @Astrealix don’t necessarily have to replicate traditions from there here. A smaller community might make a single match thread viable. It worked for r/ArsenalWFC
We can see how things go in the preseason. Mikel can test out Rice/Kai/Timber and here on Lemmy we can test Match Threads/ HT Threads. Win-Win.
Doubt it’ll be as toxic as reddit, the community here seems more mature.
Imagine being able to have a match thread that isn’t drowning in toxicity because we’re not 3-0 up after 25 mins
Depending on how our preseason games go, we will need to test some rice here on Lemmy to dry out our devices. Hopefully Arteta has some to spare.
Can we have a “calm match thread”?
The other thing is, there are probably more people who don’t show up in the lemmy.world member numbers because they come in from another instance. e.g I am using my aussie.zone account, even though I alsio sub to this community with a lemmy.world account
I think we should sell Partey to Saudi and then go all in on Tchouameni. Shed the drama and sign another wonderkid.
Don’t think we can afford him
lemmy world is struggling lol, massive growth do be hitting hard
It was doing okay for me until about a hour ago. Now I’m getting error messages pop up about 75% of the time when trying to post or even navigate around.
I had to continue with browser version, the apps simply aren’t loading
I def feel like an ignorant dinosaur migrating from reddit/Apollo to Lemmy/Mlem. But glad to be here!
try wefwef.app if youre coming from Apollo like me, or Memmy
Omg I’m home! 🤩 Thank you much.
I decided to to start using my aussie.zone account instead (which was actually my first Lemmy account)

Signed up on lemmy.world instance, wondering if I should sign up to a different one (perhaps a UK one?). Any recommendations?
@soycapitan451 @Astrealix so long as you can find the communities you want it really doesn’t matter although lemmy.world seems quite laggy for me but you can join a community from any instance.
