It’s true haha, and there’s a couple other quirks. Unfortunately the trending page is pretty bad (makes sense, it’s just accountless YouTube) and there lack of tracking that YouTube uses on you mean you only get your subscriptions.
So if you’re a YouTube explorer it can definitely limit finding new channels from the frontpage. (For me so far at least). However, the videos when you are watching something still have a mix of your subs and similar channels, so that’s good enough for me for now. I also assume that it, unfortunately, probably doesn’t fully support the channels (views, engagement). I’m not 100% on what the deal there is but it’s worth mentioning.
Super cool project though, self-hosted solutions are always welcome and the developer seems to be quite young and enthusiastic which is always welcome.
From the Google:
The electricity consumption of average mini or compact refrigerators is about 233 kWh to 310 kWh. Meanwhile, refrigerators (18-20 cubic feet) often use between 404 and 613 kWh.
Electrically comparable only if they are volumetrically, which they are not. Typical mini fridges have an average volume of 2.5 to 3 cubic feet. So approximately one sixth the volume for half the electrical consumption is not a worth trade.
Is it actually more power intensive?
we need to ask technology connections, He would know.
Fantastic channel. For those interested: https://www.youtube.com/@TechnologyConnections
Piped Link for those who are moving away from YouTube
First I’ve heard of this, thanks!
Enjoy! They just fixed a hitch with accounts and the subscriptions and it’s nice and stable now it seems!
Interesting thanks for sharing! Only thing missing is the absolute chaos in the comments. YT comments are half the fun haha

That motherfucker went DEEP on fridges in his last video.
Since no one linked the actual video, here it is.

Seems comparable. And you would only be opening one and losing energy for half of the total volume when doing it this way.

You don’t lose half of the volume when you open a fridge door. The “cold” is stored in the items inside the fridge.
While yes you’re very right, that also assumes you have the fridge packed full.
If you’re interested in saving electricity, you should. Even if it’s just a pot of water. Empty refrigerators run constantly.
Agreed, probably a little more efficient to use the 2 mini fridges.
