I have subscribed to a few other communities around the fediverse. But all my subscriptions that are not local to beehaw.org are still pending. I made an account before last weekend, so I’m a fairly new user.

Also, what happens with my pending subscriptions to the “cars” community on lemmy.world now that it has been defederated? It’s not important, I’m only wondering what I should expect.

I’m still new, so is there something I should have done?

I’ve been here for just under two weeks. My subscriptions to most communities say “joined”. The only ones that still say “pending” are hosted on instances we’ve defederated from.

The frustrating bit is communities from instance we’ve defederated from are still shown in the “communities” list. I wonder if that’s easily changeable in the source code, hm. Would have to look.

EDIT: nevermind, this is definitely happening on other instances we are federated with, such as lemmy.ml

It is the same for me. I think it will sort itself out in time. Lemmy is such a new things and it is being hugged to death, so people need time to figure it out still. I am sure it will work itself out.

Yes, I’m having a perspective on this as a journey, it’s fun to be along for the ride. Even though it’s been around a couple of years things are not set in stone, and of course with the big influx of reddit users(me included there) there still ways to go. I’m still not sure how everything works. Anyways I’m exited to see what the future holds for the fediverse.

Yeah! As am I. The fediverse is already pretty great. And I think it’s the natural next step for people.

Social media execs, must be worried about it as Twitter and Reddit have started to migrate. And now people know that there are alternatives.

People are also learning that you don’t need 100 millions users for the platform to be good.
