Looks like someone got access to their server. Could have been through a complicated exploit. Could have used a easy password and it was brute forced. Usually it’s through leaked password from another leak. Reusing the same password. They could have leaked their ssh key somewhere by accident. Who knows. Any number of things could have happened.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 FUCKIN LOL 😆 Dude, so there is this other reddit alternative called Spyke it is connected to the fediverse somehow. Anyway, it shows all the posts from lemmy, and that’s where I found this out. Can you tell me why spyke (a centralize app) is connected to the fediverse? I don’t get it. It’s cool I just don’t get it

I don’t know much about it. But the API for lemmy clients is open source. Anyone can connect and display all the post and comments however they want. The more popular Lemmy sites become I would guess people would have more motivation to pull content from there.

Ah I see I see. Ok that makes sense. Thank you for explaining that. Then why the fuck is it so complicated to connect nostr and lemmy? I don’t get it

Just Displaying content isn’t that hard. That’s why there were so many third party reddit apps before they locked down their API. You could follow a blog on how to do it.

Federation and nostr work pretty different. The community spec isn’t even finished so it can’t even really be done before that. And no one has done it yet. Or not well yet. So that takes a bit of extra creativity and research. Which I think makes it harder.

Honestly with like 12 daily posters you might also ask if it’s worth it.

The nostr community ecosystem needs to be built up and grown before any value could be had out of it.
