I always get apple care at least for a few months whenever I buy a new device from Apple, for me it’s peace of mind in case something happens and I see as protecting my investment.
Generally they are built to last. But that doesn’t take into account theft loss or accidental damage which is why it’s worth it to me. At least for the first 12 months

Theft isn’t covered for MacBook AppleCare+, only iPhones. Got it anyway though, small price to pay for such an expensive machine.
