With our phones being used for identity purposes and containing a good amount of very personal data, the idea of downloading third-party apps that haven’t even been reviewed by Apple will be a turn-off for many.
Whether this concern is technically justified or not, it will be there.
I also think of the “nutrition” label that developers have to fill in the App Store. If you grab apps from their own environments, will they return to tracking everything they can without disclosure?
But no one will be forced to download any 3rd party app. App Store is not going anywhere, most people will continue using their phone just like they did before.
